More About Kara
Before EPS:
After graduating from Dordt, I taught elementary school for 14 years in Sioux Falls.
How did you decide to get into this line of work?
Helping others and making them feel seen are two things that motivate me. Transferring those skills was natural when I joined the team at EPS! Being part of a team that is working to help clients make decisions and feel confident about their future is an inspiring place to be!
When I am not in the office, I spend most of my time…
When I’m not in the office you can find me taxiing our kids around to their sports and music activities, singing on my church worship team, or relaxing with my family and
friends.
Fun Fact:
A fun fact about me is that I spent 2 months on a mission trip to Brazil when I was 16. I went sight unseen with a group of people I had never met and it was one of the best
experiences!
What was your first job?
I honestly cannot remember when I started working, but my experience has a lot of variety! Construction clean-up with my dad’s business, hotel room cleaner, slinging VHS and DVDs at the local Video Vendor, sandwich artist at Subway, pizza-maker at Casey’s, tutoring students after school, and residential support staff at Hope Haven.
My Favorites:
- Sports team – Minnesota Vikings & Minnesota Twins
- Song – “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake and “Great is Thy Faithfulness”
- Place – I love discovering a hidden gem and experiencing it with my family. The location doesn’t necessarily matter, more that it is a unique place to create memories.
- Family recipe – My grandma’s mashed potatoes
- Restaurant – Maribella’s, Crisp Green, B&G Milkyway… I really cater to all levels of fanciness.
Education:
